Hi friends

Sorry I haven't posted much here for a while.

Last year wasn't the greatest year for me. December 2010 I had all but six teeth pulled because they were broken and kept giving me abscesses with much pain. So for the first part of 2011 I was recovering from that.

Then I started having breathing problems. It took a few tests and CT scans to find that I had some damage to my lungs, possibly from breathing in the dander of our pet parrot which we had bought the year earlier. So the specialist put me on a three month course of Prednisone.

Then we moved from our small, country town into the city, which kept me very busy.

I am slowly getting better and the breathing test I had this week was good. I'm on the road back to good health, other than catching a cold. lol

I am working on a commissioned drawing but can't post it yet.

I hope you all are having a great year so far. And please, if you have a parrot, or any kind of pet bird, be very careful not to breathe in any of their dander (dust).

Blessings.

Sorry I've not posted for such a long time

I have been very busy with finding a new house and then getting all our stuff moved. There has been a lot more happening as well, but I won't bore you with the details.

Here is my latest commissioned portrait done in graphite. This is "Milo" a bouncy, joyful young dog from our old neighbourhood. The drawing was commissioned for a birthday gift for her owner who was overjoyed to receive it.

Waterfall in acrylics

Hi everyone.

Wow, I can't believe it's been so long since my last post. My dear friend, David Meigs suggested I put down my pencils for a little while and did some paintings. That got me thinking and I realized that it's been about 20 years since I got rid of my oil paints.

Realizing it was that long, I decided to do as David suggested and pick up on my painting again. The trouble was, I had given away all my oil paints because the fumes used to get to me. So, this time around I decided to try acrylics.

Acrylics are so different to oils--they dry so fast that my first attempt at them (a beach painting, which I won't show you) just didn't feel right so I put it aside and started a new painting. This time it was a waterfall and I used more paint and worked faster. It is fun, but still not the same as oils.

After I finish the waterfall, I'll try oils again and keep the windows open. Anyway, here is my waterfall painting so far. It isn't finished yet, but I've had a few people ask to see what I'm doing so here it is so far. I will post the finished painting when it's done.
